When shopping for the perfect wedding dress, it’s hard to know what will look good on you. Just because you like a certain style doesn’t mean it will fit right or look good. With so many new trends, how can a bride possibly choose the right dress? Below are just a few of the new looks trending for wedding gowns in 2017. You may like all of them, none of them or some of them. Either way, the best thing to do is shop around. Visit a few stores and try on different styles. You’ll know what you like when you see it.
WHITE
Long gone is the tradition where brides have to wear white on their wedding day. While white still remains the favourite color for bridal gowns, pink plays a close second for the bride who does not want to conform with tradition. Especially the lighter shades of pink.
SHEER FABRICS
Sheer fabrics such as organza, chiffon and silk are very in and very sexy. Designers are playing with sheer fabrics and using them as overlays for either the dress itself and/or incorporating them into veils and trains which are also trending this year. Super sexy and a little daring is the dress with a sheer midriff. I could never wear that but I know many who could and would! Kudos to them!
DETACHABLE DRESSES
Trending for 2017 are functional wedding dresses. While still beautiful, chic and elegant, detachable dresses have built in parts such as a cape, train, or bow that can be easily removed later in the evening for a more comfortable and relaxed look.
PLUNGE NECKLINE
Think Kate Middleton’s wedding gown but an even deeper plunge. The necklines this year are taking a dive further south. As far south as the naval. It’s called a V neck plunge and it’s gorgeous and sexy and looks beautiful if you can get away with wearing such a neckline.
SHOULDER BARING
While the sweetheart neckline is still a favourite for many brides, baring shoulders while still having some type of sleeve is becoming widely popular. Designers are creating wedding gowns with an off the shoulder style so the sheer elegance of a bride’s shoulder can be seen while the drop fabric which comfortably lies just beneath the shoulder or beyond creates a beautiful, sultry look.
CORSETS
Long gone are the corsets you used to wear (and hide) under your clothes. Now corsets are being dressed up and used as wedding gown tops. Sequence, beads, pearls, lace, and sheer silks are all being used to dress up the average corset to make it a beautiful part of the wedding dresses that are trending for 2017.
SEXY BACK
It’s not going anywhere. Backless sexy wedding gowns are still trending. From partial back exposure to full exposure, showing your back in a wedding dress is très sexy! So whether you want traditional, chic or modern, consider the backless wedding dress. It’s definitely a crowd pleaser! And no doubt, your fiancé will be very happy.
Shopping for a wedding dress is something brides dream of since they were a little girl. Take your time. Enjoy the experience. Relish in the moment of being able to try on so many different gowns. Whatever you choose to wear on your wedding day, no doubt will be beautiful!
